Cavaliers hand Allen 3-year, $91M max extension

The Cleveland Cavaliers are extending center Jarrett Allen on a three-year, $91-million maximum deal, his agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Adding on to the end of his previous contract, Allen is set to receive $131 million over the next five seasons.

Allen has spent the last three-and-a-half seasons with Cleveland after spending his first three-plus years in the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets.

He scored a career-high 16.5 points per game last season, adding 10.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists while sharing the frontcourt with rising star Evan Mobley. He also finished 10th in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Allen is the third Cavaliers player to receive a major extension this summer, joining Mobley and Donovan Mitchell.

The Cavs are looking to build off a 48-34 campaign where they won a first playoff series since LeBron James played for the franchise.
