Grizzlies' Jackson to undergo surgery on broken foot
The Memphis Grizzlies announced Friday that forward GG Jackson will undergo surgery next week after sustaining a broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
The injury occurred earlier this week in Dallas when Jackson landed unstably on his foot while attempting a contested layup.
Jackson averaged 14.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 48 games for the Grizzlies last season. The 19-year-old was named to the All-Rookie second team for his efforts.
Memphis was plagued by injuries last year. Star guard Ja Morant appeared in nine games, while Desmond Bane, Luke Kennard, Marcus Smart, and Brandon Clarke also missed significant portions of the campaign. The team missed the playoffs, finishing the season 27-55.
The Grizzlies drafted Jackson 45th overall in 2023.
