Curry returns in win over Wizards after 3-game absence
Stephen Curry started the Golden State Warriors' 125-112 victory over the Washington Wizards on Monday after missing the last three games due to an ankle injury.
Curry posted 24 points on 7-of-15 shooting in just 24 minutes. He started the second half on the bench after playing 12 minutes in the first half.
Sharpshooter Buddy Hield chipped in with 20 points from the bench for the Warriors, while former Golden State guard Jordan Poole led the home side with 24 points.
The Warriors (6-1) won all three contests in Curry's absence. They twice beat the New Orleans Pelicans at home before defeating the Houston Rockets in overtime on the road.
Curry, 36, is averaging 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.7 assists in his three previous contests this season.
The 10-time All-Star sustained the injury late in the third quarter of the team's 112-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 27, its lone defeat of the campaign so far. An MRI revealed no structural damage.
Curry has battled ankle injuries throughout his 16-year NBA career. The Davidson product missed 40 of the 66 games in the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season due to an ankle injury that required surgery.
