The Philadelphia 76ers ruled out star Joel Embiid for Game 2 against the New York Knicks due to a right ankle sprain and right hip soreness, per the team's latest injury report.

Embiid didn't participate in the team's shootaround Wednesday morning after experiencing increased soreness in both areas, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

The 7-foot center was reportedly receiving around-the-clock treatment in an effort to play.

It's unclear when Embiid sustained either injury. He struggled in the series-opener against the Knicks, tallying 14 points on 3-of-11 shooting in 25 minutes.

Embiid returned to the lineup in Game 4 of the 76ers' first-round series versus the Boston Celtics, just a few weeks after undergoing surgery for appendicitis.

He helped Philadelphia overcome a 3-1 series deficit against Boston, averaging 28 points, nine boards, and seven assists over the last four games of the matchup.
