The Charlotte Hornets signed head coach Charles Lee to a contract extension, the team announced Thursday.

The terms of his contract were not disclosed.

'I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this team and building on what we've started here in Charlotte. ... I'm excited about the direction we're headed and our team's bright future," Lee said in a statement.

"Our players have shown a real commitment to growth, and I'm proud of the culture we're establishing together. We're just getting started."

Lee guided Charlotte to a 44-38 record - a 25-win improvement - this season, his second at the helm. The Hornets boasted the NBA's fifth-best offense, tallying 118.4 points per 100 possessions.

Charlotte was blown out 121-90 by the Orlando Magic in the play-in tournament, falling one win short of snapping their 10-year playoff drought.

The Hornets hired Lee in May 2024 to replace Steve Clifford. He spent the previous decade as an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, and Boston Celtics.
