Former NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke over the weekend, according to the New York Daily News.
"We would like to thank everyone for reaching out on behalf of Kenny," his wife said in a statement Tuesday. "Our family is extremely grateful for all the prayers and love that we have received over the last few days. We appreciate you continuing to respect our privacy as Kenny heals."
The 48-year-old Anderson led Georgia Tech to the Final Four in 1990 and was a consensus first-team All-American in 1991. The guard declared early for the NBA draft that same year and was selected second overall by the New Jersey Nets.
The Queens native played for nine NBA teams over a 14-year career, including the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers, and averaged 12.6 points and 6.1 assists per contest across 858 appearances. He made his lone All-Star team during the 1993-94 season.
Anderson is currently head coach of the men's basketball team at Fisk University.
