Former five-star recruit Walker Kessler has committed to Auburn, he announced Monday on social media.

Kessler entered the transfer portal following the 2020-21 campaign. The Tigers were one of his original finalists coming out of high school.

The 7-foot-1 center was the third-ranked at his position and 14th-ranked recruit overall on the ESPN 100 for 2020.

Kessler spent his freshman year at North Carolina last season, but playing time was sparse due to a logjam of players in the Tar Heels' frontcourt.

The 19-year-old averaged 4.4 points, 3.2 boards, and 0.9 blocks in 8.8 minutes per game over 29 appearances in 2020-21 and is projected to slide into Auburn's starting five next campaign.

Meanwhile, North Carolina may have an entirely new frontcourt after Garrison Brooks reportedly entered the transfer portal and Day'Ron Sharpe declared for the NBA draft.
