UConn guard Solo Ball will miss the 2026-27 season after undergoing surgery on his wrist, the Huskies announced Monday.

Ball will redshirt what would have been his senior year and return for the 2027-28 campaign.

The two-time All-Big East selection started 39 games for Dan Hurley's squad last season in a backcourt tandem alongside Silas Demary Jr., who announced last Tuesday that he'll return to Storrs for his senior year.

Ball averaged 12.8 points, three rebounds, 1.5 assists in 2025-26. Though his 3-point efficiency dropped after leading the Big East as a sophomore, he's one of two Huskies who hit at least two threes per game. Braylon Mullins, who confirmed Saturday that he'll also be back next season, led the team with 2.2 threes per contest.

As a freshman, Ball made 10 starts in 39 games, averaging 3.3 points and 11.5 minutes as the program toppled Purdue to win the NCAA Tournament. He shot 41.4% from deep as a full-time starter in Year 2, though No. 1 seed Florida halted UConn's title defense in the second round.

While Hurley won't have Ball available next season, the 53-year-old will have a few new wings to work with. Four-star recruits Colben Landrew and Junior County are part of the Huskies' 2026 cycle, while 6-foot-8 forward Nikolas Khamenia is arriving as a transfer from Duke.
