With the final rankings less than a week away, another powerhouse school is out of the playoff hunt.

The College Football Playoff selection committee unveiled its fifth rankings of the season Tuesday without any change to the top four, but with early SEC favorite Alabama essentially eliminated after its second loss this year.

Ohio State remained on top after a 56-27 win over archrival Michigan. The Buckeyes are followed by LSU, Clemson, and Georgia.

Rank Team Record
1 Ohio State 12-0
2 LSU 12-0
3 Clemson 12-0
4 Georgia 11-1

Alabama, which entered the week as the fifth-ranked team, will miss its first-ever College Football Playoff since the new format started. The Crimson Tide fell seven spots after suffering a 48-45 defeat to Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

With Alabama now out of the SEC battle, Nick Saban and Co. won't extend their streak of four straight appearances in the national championship game.

Alabama's struggles made room for Utah and Oklahoma, as both schools jumped one spot to close the top six.

Rank Team Record
5 Utah 11-1
6 Oklahoma 11-1

The Utes booked their ticket to the Pac-12 title game with a blowout win over Colorado, while the Sooners will compete for their fifth straight Big 12 crown after a 34-16 victory over Oklahoma State.

Baylor, which will face Oklahoma in the conference finals, jumped two spots to No. 7.

Auburn had one of the biggest climbs of the week, going from the 15th- to the 11th-ranked team. The Tigers are the best three-loss school, just ahead of Alabama and Oregon at No. 12 and No. 13, respectively.
