Report: Baylor targeting Virginia Tech's Fuente to replace Rhule
Baylor is targeting Virginia Tech's Justin Fuente to become its next head coach and plans to interview him by Wednesday, sources told Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel.
Fuente is reportedly considered the leading candidate for the job, which became vacant when Matt Rhule jumped to the NFL to take over the Carolina Panthers.
Fuente is coming off his fourth season at Virginia Tech, where he's compiled a 33-20 record. He came to the Hokies on the heels of a pair of strong campaigns at Memphis.
Baylor was in shambles when Rhule took charge of the program but went 11-3 this season, making appearances in the Big 12 championship game and the Sugar Bowl.
The Bears will open their 2020 schedule against Ole Miss, which will also feature a new head coach in Lane Kiffin.
