The NCAA Division I Council voted to approve voluntary athletic activities in football, men's basketball, and women's basketball, sources told Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel.

Voluntary workouts will reportedly begin June 1 and run through June 30. There's been a moratorium on all athletic activities until May 31.

The council is expected to address the status of other sports within the next week, Thamel reports.

While the move is a step in the right direction for fall sports, the ultimate decision will come down to state government, local government, and university administration.

Not everyone appears on board with resuming athletic activities. Most recently, Oklahoma football head coach Lincoln Riley said the possibility of bringing players back to campus June 1 was "one of the most ridiculous things" he's ever heard.
