Elliott takes blame for Cowboys' loss to Seahawks
Ezekiel Elliott views himself as a leader in the Dallas Cowboys' locker room, and he's taking the blame for his team's 24-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Elliott finished the game with 127 rushing yards on just 16 attempts (7.9 yards per carry), adding 11 yards on three receptions. But he had a costly fumble early in the fourth quarter deep inside Seahawks' territory that cut short a potential scoring drive.
"You can say whatever, but at the end of the day, when you've got the ball in your hands, that's the team in your hands," Elliott said after the loss, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. "Me being a leader on the team, me being a better player on this team, I got to do a better job of taking care of the ball. That cost us the game."
Earlier in the contest, Elliott was penalized for illegally touching a forward pass when he stepped out of bounds prior to what would have been a 31-yard catch-and-run touchdown in the second quarter.
"I had no idea (I was out of bounds)," Elliott said. "That's on me. I've got to have better awareness of the sideline. That's it."
The loss dropped the Cowboys to 1-2 on the season, though their 23-year-old running back has recorded 311 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns through three games.
The Cowboys return home to host the Detroit Lions in Week 4.
