The New York Jets are seriously considering NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah for a prominent role in their front office, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Jeremiah previously worked as a college scout for the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, and Philadelphia Eagles. He joined NFL Media in 2012, specializing in draft coverage.

Jeremiah replaced Mike Mayock, who became general manager of the Oakland Raiders, as NFL Network's top draft analyst this year.

The Jets seem to be in the midst of a front-office overhaul. They fired general manager Mike Maccagnan earlier Wednesday after four-plus years of service, and reportedly axed vice president of player personnel Brian Heimerdinger.

New York hasn't made the playoffs since 2010.
