Drug charges against Patriots' Chung dropped
Drug possession charges against New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung have conditionally been dismissed, Belknap County Attorney Andrew Livernois released in a statement Monday.
Chung's legal agreement includes good behaviour for a period of two years, periodic drug tests, and 40 hours of community service.
The 32-year-old was indicted on a cocaine possession charge on Aug. 8 for an incident that occurred on June 25 in Meredith, New Hampshire. He wasn't arrested at the time.
The defensive back pleaded not guilty on Aug. 26.
Chung can still be disciplined by the NFL. The league reportedly wasn't expected to punish the player until his legal situation was resolved.
The three-time Super Bowl champion amassed 51 combined tackles and three passes defended over 13 games in 2019.
