The San Francisco 49ers and tight end George Kittle are "making progress" on a lucrative contract extension, according to Michael Silver of NFL Network.
Both parties are in the final stages of negotiations that'll make Kittle the highest-paid tight end in NFL history, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated reported Wednesday that Kittle would sign a six-year contract extension worth up to $94.8 million. However, the two-time Pro Bowler called out the report on Twitter:

Kittle eclipsed 80 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past two seasons while becoming a pivotal piece on the 49ers' offense.
The 26-year-old will earn $2.13 million in 2020, according to Over The Cap.
