49ers' Lance expects to be 100% for OTAs

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance said he'll be 100% for OTAs after undergoing two surgeries on his ankle this season, according to The Athletic's Matt Barrows.

Lance added that he expects to be fully cleared for practice in three-to-four weeks.

The second-year quarterback was lost for the season after suffering a broken ankle in a Week 2 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He underwent surgery to repair the injury in September but had to go under the knife again in December to remove hardware that was causing irritation to the injury.

The 49ers ended their 2022 campaign with their top three quarterbacks injured. Backup Jimmy Garoppolo broke his foot in Week 13, while third-string rookie Brock Purdy tore the UCL in his throwing elbow during the NFC Championship Game loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Purdy told reporters, including NBC Sports' Matt Maiocco, that no decision has been made on how to approach the injury.

Purdy seemed to have positioned himself as the front-runner for the 2023 quarterback job after he won his first seven starts before the NFC title game defeat. The seventh-round pick reportedly could miss six months if he undergoes surgery.

Meanwhile, Garoppolo is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Lance, who the 49ers traded up to get at No. 3 overall in the 2021 draft, has thrown for five touchdowns to three interceptions across eight career appearances.
