Adrian Peterson not ready to announce retirement yet
Future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson hasn't called his NFL career quits just yet.
"Mentally, I haven't officially hung it up," Peterson told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill. "We'll see what happens. My mindset is, if God's willing, maybe an opportunity presents itself, and maybe it happens this season. I'll go from there. But (if) nothing happens this season, for sure, I will be hanging it up."
Peterson didn't play last season and only suited up sparingly for the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks in 2021.
The 38-year-old has also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, the now-Washington Commanders, and the Detroit Lions since he finished his 10-year career with the Minnesota Vikings.
Peterson established himself as one of the game's all-time great runners with the Vikings. He earned seven Pro Bowl nods, four first-team All-Pro selections, Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, and both Offensive Player of the Year and MVP in 2012. The tailback was also selected to the All-2010s Team.
Peterson currently has 14,918 career rushing yards and 120 rushing touchdowns to go along with 2,474 yards and six scores through the air. He also ranks fifth in all-time rushing yards and fourth in rushing touchdowns.
