Bears' Moore regrets bad body language vs. Texans
Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore expressed regret for his frustration and poor body language during the club's loss to the Houston Texans last weekend.
"I shouldn't have shown as much," Moore said, according to NBC Sports Chicago's Josh Schrock. "But it's a part of the game. ... We were one play away from the game changing. And we just couldn't connect. Nobody on offense could connect with the one play or get the one play started to get us on track and go up. It's football. Everybody is going to have their ups and downs and frustrations."
Moore was oblivious to how he looked during the Sunday Night Football broadcast but saw footage after and called his mannerisms "too much."
"I mean, looking at it, I didn't think it was, but you look at the TV, and it's blown up, and I'm like, alright, that's enough, and then you can do some self-evaluation," Moore said.
Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams struggled to generate much while being harassed by the Texans' defense throughout the game. The 2024 No. 1 pick completed 23 of 37 attempts for 174 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. The USC product was hauled down for seven sacks.
Williams attempted to connect with Moore on a third-and-4 pass from the Texans' 36-yard line. After the pass went incomplete, Moore remained on his back momentarily before abruptly taking off his helmet and walking down the Bears' sideline. The standout wideout appeared despondent earlier in the game while sitting on the bench.
The veteran clarified he wasn't upset specifically at Williams. Moore caught six passes for 53 yards in last weekend's defeat.
"People just 'at' you, and it won't really be nothing. None of the frustration was at anybody. It was at chasing the play," Moore said.
Moore led the Bears with 96 catches for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023 after he was acquired in a trade with the Carolina Panthers. He was rewarded with a four-year, $110-million extension in July.
