Ward showcases skills at Miami's pro day
Quarterback Cam Ward made a case for himself Monday at Miami's pro day, attempting to prove to all 32 NFL clubs, including the Tennessee Titans, that he's worthy of the first overall selection in the upcoming NFL draft.
Ward is among a handful of prospects in contention to be selected first overall when the Titans are on the clock. Tennessee was represented by a large contingent at the event, including head coach Brian Callahan, general manager Mike Borgonzi, and president of football operations Chad Brinker.
Ward made sure to inform the Titans' brass that he deserves to be the top selection following a downfield completion to receiver Xavier Restrepo.
"I said I'm solidifying it today," Ward said as he looked over at Tennessee's representatives. "I made sure they heard it."
The 6-foot-2, 219-pound Ward put his arm on full display during a 45-minute workout that included a couple of misses. He lined up both under center and in shotgun formation while displaying his ability to throw in the pocket as well as on the run.
The former Miami star is projected to be among the first names called April 24. Colorado two-way player Travis Hunter, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter are also vying to be the top pick.
Ward has already visited the Titans' team facility. Tennessee currently has Will Levis and Brandon Allen at quarterback.
Ward passed for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in his final collegiate season with the Hurricanes in 2024. He also added 204 rushing yards and four scores on his way to winning the Davey O'Brien Award and Manning Award.
