The Dallas Cowboys and offensive lineman Tyler Smith agreed to a four-year, $96-million extension that will make him the highest-paid guard ever, the team announced Saturday.

Smith is the second Cowboys player to land a lucrative extension since the franchise traded Micah Parsons, joining DaRon Bland. Bland inked a four-year, $92-million deal in August.

Smith's new extension averages $24 million, which breaks Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Trey Smith's previous benchmark of $23.5 million for the guard position.

A first-round pick by the Cowboys in 2022, Smith has grown into a two-time Pro Bowler. He's started 48 of a possible 52 games since entering the league.
