Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton sounded very optimistic about his team's chances against the New England Patriots in the AFC title game Sunday - and that doesn't seem to be sitting well with some opposing players.

Payton delivered a bold message to Broncos fans Wednesday, suggesting that they'll have an extra week off before cheering again at Super Bowl LX.

Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte responded to Payton's comments Thursday.

"They can rest in Cancun too," Boutte said, according to Kevin Moore of NBC 10 WJAR.

Mike Vrabel was also asked about Payton's viral remark, but the New England head coach downplayed it.

"We're plenty motivated for the game," Vrabel said, according to Tom Carroll of WEEI. "Our players are continuing to build confidence through the week. So, I'm really excited to go out there and play."

The Patriots will go up against the Broncos' backup quarterback, Jarrett Stidham, who is replacing an injured Bo Nix. Denver and New England were the top seeds in the AFC. The winner of Sunday's clash will face the Seattle Seahawks or Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8.
