Raiders GM anticipates Crosby staying with team
Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek expects star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby will still be on the team when Week 1 rolls around.
"I do, yes," Spytek told reporters at the NFL combine Tuesday when asked if he anticipates Crosby will be in a Raiders uniform when the season begins.
He added, "Maxx is an elite player, and I've been very up-front from the start when I got here that we're in the business of having really good players on the team and we need a lot more of them."
Rumors about Crosby's future have swirled since he was shut down due to a knee injury with two games left in the 2025 season. Crosby denied being the source of the rumors and said earlier in February that "random people" were "making big statements" on his behalf.
Spytek said he has a "great relationship" with Crosby and they're on the same page about his future.
"Maxx and I have had great conversations. I'm comfortable there," Spytek responded when asked if he was comfortable with his assessment of Crosby's desires.
Spytek is the latest member of the Raiders' brass to publicly state they want the five-time Pro Bowler to stick around. New head coach Klint Kubiak said at his first Raiders press conference that there was "no doubt" he wanted Crosby on the team, and owner Mark Davis expressed a similar sentiment.
The Raiders finished 3-14 last season, earning the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. A potential rebuild has created the expectation that the franchise might ship off some of its veteran assets.
When asked if Crosby was untradable, Spytek acknowledged that the team is always listening to offers.
The 28-year-old edge rusher has recorded 69.5 sacks across seven seasons and is under contract through the 2029 season.
