Report: Giants to release Okereke

The New York Giants are releasing linebacker Bobby Okereke, sources told NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Okereke has been with the Giants since 2023 when he signed a four-year, $40-million contract. He spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts and entered the league as a third-round pick in 2019.

The 29-year-old's 143 tackles last season ranked 10th league-wide. He suited up in all 17 regular-season games and played 99% of the Giants' defensive snaps.

New York will save $9 million against its 2026 salary cap by releasing the veteran linebacker, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. Okereke's departure marks the first big personnel move of the John Harbaugh coaching era.

Okereke posted 385 tackles, seven forced fumbles, and 5.5 sacks during his three-year Giants tenure.
