Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton announced that quarterback Bo Nix will likely participate in June's mandatory minicamp and should be operating at "full speed" by training camp.

"I'm sure you'll see him, probably minicamp, maybe," Payton told reporters Saturday. "He'll be full speed throwing, everything, in July before we even get back here. He's doing good."

Payton noted that Nix has been progressing well since undergoing a follow-up surgery on his fractured ankle in April, but he added that the team plans to be cautious with the 26-year-old.

"We're going to be the ones kind of holding him back, if you will," Payton said. "The follow-up procedure was not a surprise."

He added: "We feel real good about where he's at."

Nix sustained the ankle injury during Denver's divisional-round win over the Buffalo Bills and missed the AFC title game, which the Broncos lost to the New England Patriots.

Denver has OTAs from June 2-4 and June 9-11, followed by mandatory minicamp from June 16-18.
