Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson is finalizing a contract to become a CBS Sports analyst, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Wilson received an offer to serve as a backup quarterback but opted to join CBS, where he'll contribute to Sunday's pregame show and fulfill other duties, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Although his move to TV puts a pause on his playing career, Wilson's new gig doesn't signal his retirement, Rapoport notes.

The 37-year-old visited the New York Jets earlier this offseason and later revealed the franchise had made him a contract offer.

Wilson began the 2025 season as the New York Giants' starting quarterback but was replaced by first-round pick Jaxson Dart. Over six appearances, Wilson finished with a career-worst 58% completion rate and three touchdowns to three interceptions. He also went winless in his three starts.

Wilson found most of his career success with the Seattle Seahawks, winning a Super Bowl and earning a Pro Bowl nod in nine of his 10 seasons with the NFC West franchise.

However, he's bounced around since being traded by the Seahawks to the Denver Broncos during the 2022 offseason. He compiled an 11-19 record over two campaigns with the Broncos, then found brief success with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, winning six of his first seven starts before ending the season on a five-game skid.

Wilson ranks 16th in NFL history with 46,966 career passing yards, while his 353 passing touchdowns are the 12th most.
