CBS Sports placed NFL broadcaster Tony Romo on leave after his arrest last week on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence.
"Tony Romo is on leave from his role at CBS Sports until further notice," the network said Friday in a statement obtained by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The network also said that former NFL star J.J. Watt will join Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson on its lead broadcasting team during Romo's absence.
On July 23, Romo performed poorly on field sobriety tests after getting stopped as he was driving south on Interstate 43 in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said Romo had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, according to ESPN. He also refused "to take the test for intoxication after arrest," per court records.
Romo is due in court Sept. 21.
The 46-year-old joined CBS Sports following his retirement from the NFL in 2017. He played 13 seasons for the Dallas Cowboys during his on-field career.
