Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is dazed and confused by the contentious development of players in NFL training camps attempting to return to college to play in the NCAA.
"I feel like I took a freakin' gummy," McVay told reporters Tuesday when asked about the highly debated controversy, according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.
Tight end Dae'Quan Wright and defensive lineman Zxavian Harris attended training camps for the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints, respectively, before leaving with the intention of playing for LSU this fall. The two were among 16 players recently granted a temporary restraining order by a Louisiana judge, allowing them to exercise a fifth year of college eligibility.
However, the SEC announced Tuesday that it won't allow professional athletes in the NFL to return to play college sports. The Big Ten unanimously approved the same policy earlier Tuesday.
McVay admitted he's not 100% sure how the process works, only that it blows his mind.
"I don't even understand it. I'm looking at this stuff, like, 'Surely that's not real,'" McVay added. "I just try to stay in my lane."
