Former Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott believes his old team will reach the Super Bowl in their first year under Joe Brady.
"It would be Bills-Rams," McDermott said when asked about his Super Bowl prediction on the "Rich Eisen Show." "That would be a great Super Bowl, Bills-Rams."
McDermott, who was fired after a nine-year run with the Bills, says he will still root for Buffalo going forward despite being replaced by his former offensive coordinator.
"Listen, people ask me all the time, 'Hey, do you still root for your old team?' And I said, 'Why wouldn't I?' Of course I do. I mean, the impact that you want to have as a head coach on a team and a community, that's one thing, but man, oh, man, the impact that that team, that building, and that community had on me and my family, we'll remember that for the rest of our lives."
The Bills promoted Brady to head coach a few days following their divisional round loss to the Denver Broncos. McDermott led the Bills to a .662 winning percentage from 2017-2025, the second-highest in the league, behind only the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, McDermott couldn't get over the hump and reach the Super Bowl with quarterback Josh Allen in his prime. He finished with an 8-8 postseason record, including two losses in the AFC Championship Game.
Brady helped the team's offense rank first in EPA/play and third in yards per game over the last two seasons combined, according to TruMedia. Brady and Allen will have a new offensive weapon in wide receiver DJ Moore this season after they sent a second-round pick to the Chicago Bears.
Moore, who's under contract through the 2029 campaign, has four 1,000-plus receiving seasons during his eight-year career.
"With what they've done, the moves that (general manager) Brandon Beane has made and the activity they've had on the roster just over the last X amount of months, I think has been very important," McDermott added.
"So, I think if you're betting on a Super Bowl contender, they're certainly one of them. I don't see why you wouldn't bet on them."
Buffalo will face off against the Houston Texans in its season opener Sept. 13.
