Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray has been ruled out due to a concussion after taking a big hit in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers, the team announced.
Murray appeared to get his head sandwiched between Lukas Van Ness and Javon Bullard on a 2-yard scramble in the first quarter. Bullard was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play. Murray's teammates on the field immediately called for medical attention.
Carson Wentz came in to relieve Murray, who went to the locker room.
Murray's first regular-season pass as a member of the Vikings was intercepted by Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon.
Murray, the No. 1 overall pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2019, won Minnesota's starting quarterback job this offseason, beating out 2024 first-rounder J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy is inactive for Sunday's game, though he is designated as the third-string emergency quarterback.
