The San Francisco 49ers are signing veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks to their practice squad with the intention of getting him up to game speed, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Cooks went unsigned during the offseason after splitting the 2025 campaign with the New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills. In total, he managed 24 receptions for 279 yards in what was his 12th NFL season.
The 32-year-old has also suited up for the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Los Angeles Rams, and New England Patriots during his career. The Saints selected him in the first round of the 2014 draft.
The 49ers are 2-0 to start the season despite having multiple injured receivers, including Mike Evans, De'Zhaun Stribling, Christian Kirk, and Demarcus Robinson.
