New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown is questionable for Sunday's contest against the Miami Dolphins due to knee and ankle injuries.
Brown was initially listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday with an ankle injury, but the injury report later updated to show knee and ankle injuries. A knee issue that Brown has battled for years flared up earlier in the week, prompting the change, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
He was designated as a nonparticipant in Thursday's and Friday's practices.
Brown has missed four contests this season due to a sprained ankle suffered in New England's season opener. He's recorded nine receptions for 101 yards in three appearances and ranks 130th among 135 qualifying wide receivers in EPA/target, according to TruMedia.
"Look, he's played eight quarters and almost two months and had four practices, I think," offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Thursday of Brown's slow start to the year, according to MassLive's Mark Daniels. "So, I'm certainly in the mode of this is a process of building into our best football."
If Brown misses Sunday's game, New England will be left with DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams, and Efton Chism as its top wideouts. The team placed Romeo Doubs on injured reserve Oct. 19 due to a shoulder injury.
The Patriots acquired Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles in June for a 2028 first-round pick.
