The Minnesota Vikings had a trade in place that would've sent Jauan Jennings back to the San Francisco 49ers, but the wide receiver decided to stay with his current team, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
Although the Vikings and 49ers had worked out trade terms, the deal depended on Jennings joining a FaceTime call with San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, Glazer added. However, Jennings reportedly preferred to stay in Minnesota.
Jennings spent the first six seasons of his career with the 49ers after they selected him in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He developed into a productive receiving option in their offense, recording a career-high 975 yards in 2024 and 643 yards in 2025.
The 29-year-old signed a one-year, $8-million contract with the Vikings in free agency this past offseason. While Minnesota remains the NFL's only undefeated team at 6-0, Jennings hasn't contributed much, catching just four passes for 43 yards.
The 6-1 49ers have suffered numerous injuries at wide receiver. Mike Evans has been managing an Achilles injury, Deebo Samuel has missed time due to a hamstring issue, and standout rookie De'Zhaun Stribling underwent ankle surgery after Week 1.
