The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons 16-0 on Sunday without completing a pass.
The result marks the first time an NFL team has won a game without a pass completion since Sept. 29, 1974, when the Buffalo Bills beat the New York Jets 16-12.
Baker Mayfield went 0-for-3 as rain poured down for most of the contest at Tampa Bay's Raymond James Stadium. He attempted just one pass in the second half and finished with a passer rating of 39.6.
Running back Bucky Irving went off for the Bucs, posting 27 carries for 171 yards and one touchdown. Kenny Gainwell also added 140 yards on the ground, as Tampa finished with 324 rushing yards.
Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. struggled, completing just eight of 24 passes with four interceptions and a passer rating of 12.0. He's the first quarterback this season to throw three or more interceptions in the first half.
Rain and wind also affected the 1974 Bills-Jets contest. Buffalo quarterback Joe Ferguson went 0-for-2 passing, while Jets signal-caller Joe Namath completed just 2 of 18 attempts.
With the victory, Tampa Bay improved to 3-5 and is now in the thick of the NFC South race. Meanwhile, the Falcons fell to 3-5 and have lost three of their last four contests.
