New York Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury, the team announced Thursday.
He has six goals and 24 points in 46 games this season. He fell awkwardly on his right leg late in Monday's 3-1 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets after being hit by Cole Sillinger.
Dobson doesn't require surgery, the team confirmed, according to The Hockey News' Stefen Rosner.
The blue-liner's played 24:01 per game this season, tops among all Islanders skaters and 18th league-wide. Dobson set a career high with 70 points last year, and he finished eighth in Norris Trophy voting.
The Islanders are seven points out of the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and rank last in the Metropolitan Division.
