Seattle Kraken assistant coach Jessica Campbell won't return to the team next season following the expiration of her contract.
"As Jessica's current contract expires, she has expressed her desire to explore other coaching roles across the league, and we support her in this process," Kraken general manager Jason Botterill said Thursday.
"Jessica has been an important member of our coaching staff for the past four years, demonstrating deep knowledge and a unique ability to connect with and develop players. We respect her decision and believe strongly in her as a coach in this league."
Campbell became the first full-time female assistant coach on an NHL bench in league history when the Kraken hired her in 2024 as part of Dan Bylsma's staff. She stayed with the club last season even after Lane Lambert replaced Bylsma as head coach.
Campbell previously worked as an assistant on Bylsma's staff with Seattle's AHL team, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, for two campaigns from 2022-24.
The Kraken have missed the playoffs in back-to-back years, making the postseason just once in their five NHL seasons.
