The Toronto Maple Leafs are interviewing Anaheim Ducks assistant Jay Woodcroft for their head coaching vacancy this week, sources told insider Frank Seravalli.

Woodcroft reportedly interviewed with the Los Angeles Kings last week. He joined the Ducks' staff this past season for his first NHL gig since being fired as Edmonton Oilers head coach early in the 2023-24 season.

The 49-year-old Toronto native amassed a 79-41-13 record as head coach of the Oilers across two-plus seasons. He's also worked as an assistant with the Detroit Red Wings and San Jose Sharks during his career.

The Maple Leafs have arranged meetings with 20 interviewees, sources told Seravalli. Toronto reportedly held initial conversations with University of Denver head coach David Carle earlier this month, but it's unclear if he's a serious candidate for the role.

Toronto fired head coach Craig Berube on May 13 after the club finished 28th in the league standings, ending a nine-year playoff streak. The Maple Leafs also fired former general manager Brad Treliving in March and brought in John Chayka and Mats Sundin to run the front office.
