The Dallas Stars checked in with the Detroit Red Wings about captain Dylan Larkin, sources told The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun.

After news of Larkin's trade request broke last week, he reportedly submitted a three-team trade list Monday consisting of the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights. However, he may be willing to be more flexible.

Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman reportedly reached out to Larkin's agent Pat Brisson and asked to expand the three-team list. Brisson "was receptive to that to some degree," LeBrun reports.

The Stars are deep down the middle, with Roope Hintz, Wyatt Johnston, Matt Duchene, Tyler Seguin, Mavrik Bourque, and Sam Steel all capable of playing center. However, they've each played the wing before.

Dallas enters the offseason with $10.1 million in cap space, but restricted free agent Jason Robertson is expected to command a contract that will eat up a large chunk of that total at minimum. His qualifying offer will be $9.3 million. The Stars and Robertson have continued contract discussions, per LeBrun.

Larkin averaged 32 goals and 71 points per season over the last five years while serving as Detroit's No. 1 center.
