The Florida Panthers acquired Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators, the teams announced Sunday.
The Senators received the ninth and 25th overall picks in this year's draft, plus a 2027 second-rounder and a top-ten protected 2029 first-round pick.
Brady will join his older brother Matthew in Florida. The two won Olympic gold with Team USA in February.
Tkachuk is signed through 2027-28 at a cap hit just over $8.2 million. He's eligible for a contract extension beginning July 2027.
Tkachuk indicated to Senators general manager Steve Staios that he had no plans to re-sign with Ottawa, sources told Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch.
His contract carries a full no-movement clause. Tkachuk gave the Senators a list of four teams that he would accept a trade to: Florida, the Carolina Hurricanes, Vegas Golden Knights, and Minnesota Wild, league sources told The Athletic. Carolina and Vegas competed in the Stanley Cup Final, while Minnesota's general manager is Bill Guerin, who holds the same role for Team USA.
The 26-year-old tallied 22 goals and 59 points in 60 games this season. Tkachuk had been Ottawa's captain since 2021.
Tkachuk voiced his frustration over constant trade rumors after the Senators' campaign ended in April.
"Quite honestly, it's just getting frustrating," Tkachuk said. "It's becoming a distraction. I have been fully committed to this team, to this city, and it's just become a distraction and frustrating to deal with."
The Senators drafted Tkachuk fourth overall in 2018. He accumulated 213 goals and 463 points in 572 contests over eight seasons in Ottawa.
Florida acquired the 25th selection earlier Sunday by trading restricted free agent Mackie Samoskevich to the Seattle Kraken.
The Panthers missed the playoffs this season after winning back-to-back Stanley Cups. Ottawa was swept in the first round by the eventual Cup-winning Carolina Hurricanes. The Senators didn't win a playoff series in Tkachuk's tenure.
Matthew Tkachuk was traded to the Panthers in 2022 after he told the Calgary Flames that he wouldn't re-sign long-term.
