The Vegas Golden Knights are keeping one of the original "Misfits" around for the foreseeable future, signing forward William Karlsson to a two-year extension carrying an average annual value of $6.75 million, the team announced Wednesday.
Karlsson was one of Vegas' original picks from the 2017 expansion draft. He's tallied 403 points in 570 career games since joining the Golden Knights.
The 33-year-old posted four goals and three assists in just 14 games last season because of a lower-body injury. He also added nine points in 15 playoff appearances during Vegas' run to the Stanley Cup Final.
Karlsson played a critical role on the Golden Knights' 2023 Stanley Cup team as well, tying for second on the squad with 11 postseason goals.
He played for the Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue Jackets before joining the Golden Knights and exploding for a career-high 43 goals and 78 points in 2017-18. Though Karlsson hasn't matched that production since, he's developed into one of the game's most reliable two-way centers.
