Toronto Maple Leafs forward Kirill Marchenko left Monday's loss against the Calgary Flames due to a lower-body injury and didn't return, the team announced.

Marchenko fell awkwardly after being hit by Flames forward Yegor Sharangovich during the second period and then slammed into the boards.

Marchenko took a brief 14-second shift after the fall and then went to the locker room.

Leafs head coach Jim Hiller didn't provide an update on Marchenko postgame, according to Sportsnet's Luke Fox.

Marchenko had six goals and 14 points in 13 games entering Monday's clash.

Toronto acquired Marchenko from the Columbus Blue Jackets for forward Matthew Knies in a seven-piece trade on the eve of the regular season.

The Leafs are already without forwards John Tavares, Max Domi, and Dakota Joshua as well as defensemen Chris Tanev and Marshall Rifai due to injuries.
