Garrick Higgo is parting ways with caddie Austin Gaugert, his agent told Golfweek's Adam Schupak.
Additionally, Higgo has hired Nick Cavendish-Pell as a replacement.
Higgo made headlines Thursday at the PGA Championship after receiving a two-stroke penalty for being late to his Round 1 tee time. He ended up shooting 69 in the opening round despite incurring the penalty but missed the cut by one stroke after carding a 76 in Round 2.
In a viral post-round press conference, Higgo explained that he was trying to stay as warm as possible at the range before heading to the first tee. He said that Gaugert was yelling at him to get to the tee.
"The rule is that if you're one second late, you're late. I was obviously there on time but late, and that's a two-shot penalty," Higgo said.
Channeling legendary New York Yankees catcher Yogi Berra, Higgo added: "I wouldn't have been late if I knew I was running late."
Gaugert was on the bag for Higgo's last PGA TOUR win at the 2025 Corales Puntacana Championship.
Cavendish-Pell has previously caddied for Higgo, including during his first career PGA TOUR victory at the 2021 Palmetto Championship.
