The Minnesota Lynx reached a contract buyout agreement with veteran forward Angel McCoughtry, the team announced Thursday.

In two appearances for the now 0-3 Lynx, the 35-year-old averaged six points, three rebounds, one assist, and one block in 10 minutes per game. She shot 3-of-8 from the floor overall.

McCoughtry was a five-time All-Star and six-time All-WNBA Team selectee with the Atlanta Dream earlier in her career, and was named to the WNBA's 25th Anniversary Team last year. After her 2021 campaign with the Las Vegas Aces ended with a preseason ACL tear in her right knee, McCoughtry signed with Minnesota as a free agent in search of her elusive first WNBA title.

“Minnesota is a great organization and a class act,” McCoughtry said through the team. “Thank you to (head coach and general manager) Cheryl Reeve, the coaching staff, and my teammates for the opportunity to come to Minnesota.

"Although the organization has been very patient with my injury and helping me heal my body, sometimes it’s about what fits best for both parties. I believe in myself and I know I will be all the way back to perform at the highest level."
