The rosters for the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo are starting to take shape after Friday's WNBA expansion draft.

The Fire selected Bridget Carleton from the Minnesota Lynx with the first overall pick, while the Tempo nabbed Julie Allemand from the Los Angeles Sparks at No. 2.

The Fire were given the first pick after losing a coin flip to the Tempo, who chose to select sixth in the upcoming WNBA draft instead of first in the expansion draft. As a result, the Fire will pick seventh in the draft on April 13.

The expansion draft, which employed a snake method, allowed Portland and Toronto to select from a designated pool of players left unprotected by 12 of the league's 13 other teams. The Chicago Sky made their entire roster untouchable by trading a first-round pick to both expansion clubs.
