Sean Newcomb was one strike away from throwing the 15th no-hitter in Atlanta Braves history on Sunday before Chris Taylor spoiled his party.
With two outs and facing a 2-2 count in the top of the ninth inning, the Dodgers shortstop roped a single into left field to end Newcomb's day after 134 pitches.
The 40,303 fans in attendance at SunTrust Park rewarded the 25-year-old Newcomb with a roaring ovation for his spectacular effort. He acknowledged their praise by tipping his cap.

Newcomb wound up losing his shutout, too, when Taylor came around to score following defensive indifference and a Manny Machado single.
The last Braves pitcher to throw a no-hitter was Kent Mercker on Apr 8, 1994 against the Dodgers.
