New York Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard played down his reported issue with throwing to catcher Wilson Ramos.

"Nothing but respect for the guy, doesn't change our relationship between one another. He busts his ass every day," Syndergaard said on Tuesday, according to Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports. "... My initial frustration on why there are extreme splits with different catchers' more so the matter is it's all on me."

The 27-year-old was reportedly "livid" with the team about being forced to throw to Ramos in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. In the days leading up to the game, he apparently met with manager Mickey Callaway and pitching strategist Jeremy Accardo and then general manager Brodie Van Wagenen to discuss the issue.

On Tuesday, Syndergaard denied he was upset.

"First and foremost, the whole idea that I was 'livid' with the conversation is completely false," he said, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. "We had a very cordial, adult conversation about the matter."

The former All-Star added: "It is unfortunate that a private conversation that I had with the front office and the coaching staff became public, but it is what it is right now."

Syndergaard was also asked about his relationship with the club's front office.

"As of right now, the 25, 40 guys in the clubhouse, those guys are my family," he said after an initial pause.

Syndergaard admitted he doesn't know why there's such a dramatic difference in his splits with the three Mets catchers: Ramos, Tomas Nido, and Rene Rivera.

"Not really sure," he said, per Ehalt. "I know in terms of pitchers and catchers there is a certain it factor, there’s a relationship, like a symbiotic relationship that two guys can possess and all about being comfortable out there."

Syndergaard owns a 2.17 ERA in 22 career contests in which Nido has caught him and a 2.52 mark in 29 games with Rivera. That number jumps to 5.09 in 15 starts with Ramos.
