Larry Walker will enter the Baseball Hall of Fame as a Colorado Rockie.

One day after the Baseball Writers' Association of America elected Walker and former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter into Cooperstown, the retired outfielder announced his decision during a press conference Wednesday.

Walker, who will be the first Rockies player inducted into the Hall, mentioned the decision wasn't an easy one considering he is Canadian and played his first six years with the Montreal Expos. He also spent a season-and-a-half with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The 53-year-old Maple Ridge, British Columbia, native is only the second Canadian player to be inducted into Cooperstown, joining pitcher Fergie Jenkins.

Walker won a National League MVP and three batting titles during his 10 seasons with the Rockies.

He and Jeter will officially be inducted during Hall of Fame Weekend in July.
