DeGrom exits early vs. Phillies due to hamstring spasm
New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom lasted only two innings against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night because of a right hamstring spasm, the team announced, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.
The reigning two-time National League Cy Young winner met with trainers in the dugout after giving up three runs in the second inning, according to Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Jacob deGrom didn't strike a batter out the first time through the order. It's the first time all season that he has gone fully through a lineup at any point in a game without recording a K. Very unusual to see the ball in play that much against him.

Right-hander Michael Wacha replaced deGrom in the third inning.
DeGrom said postgame he felt like the back of his leg was grabbing him, adding that he also experienced the issue during his last start in Buffalo and again somewhat while warming up before Wednesday's contest, reports Tim Britton of The Athletic.
"I'm not too worried it's going to be a long-term thing," the three-time All-Star said, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
DeGrom entered Wednesday with a 1.67 ERA and a career-best 13.2 K/9 in 2020. The 32-year-old had gone 13 straight starts allowing two earned runs or less prior to his most recent outing, the second-longest such streak in Mets history.
