The Houston Astros will be without ace right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. for the World Series, the pitcher announced on Monday.

"It's disappointing, but I'm just gonna keep doing what I can do and have all the faith in the guys we have out there to try to win a World Series," McCullers said, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

The 28-year-old was removed from Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the Chicago White Sox with forearm pain and was later diagnosed with a strain, which kept him off the ALCS roster.

McCullers confirmed Monday the injury normally requires six-to-eight weeks of recovery before adding there is no damage to the UCL ligament in his elbow.

McCullers put together a solid regular-season campaign with the Astros, posting a 13-5 record with a 3.16 ERA and 185 strikeouts in 162 1/3 innings.

The six-year veteran also allowed just one earned run in 10 2/3 innings during the division series before he was injured.
