The Oakland Athletics are searching for a new manager, and they've narrowed down their list to six candidates, The Athletic's Britt Ghiroli and Ken Rosenthal report.

Tampa Bay Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro, Houston Astros bench coach Joe Espada, and Boston Red Sox bench coach Will Venable are all under consideration alongside internal options Mark Kotsay, Marcus Jensen, and Darren Bush.

Kotsay currently serves as the third base coach for the A's, while Bush is the hitting coach, and Jensen is a bullpen coach.

The group of six are all slated to be or have already been interviewed.

Quatraro and Espada are also rumored to be leading candidates for the New York Mets' managerial opening.

Oakland has been looking for a new manager since giving the San Diego Padres permission to interview and subsequently poach Bob Melvin. Melvin managed the A's for 11 seasons, posting an 853-764 record and winning two of his three Manager of the Year awards in Oakland.

The Padres have since poached Ryan Christenson as well, who previously served as the A's bench coach.
