Report: Red Sox dangling Casas for pitching help
The Boston Red Sox put first baseman Triston Casas on the trade block in an attempt to bolster the club's pitching, sources told Alex Speier of the Boston Globe.
Boston offered Casas to an American League team as the main piece of a deal that would've landed the Red Sox a hurler, the unnamed club's executive told Speier.
Outfielder Wilyer Abreu and top prospects such as Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell, and Marcelo Mayer weren't involved in that proposed trade, according to Speier.
The Red Sox have reportedly talked to clubs about potential deals that didn't include Casas but were headlined by Abreu or prospects.
Casas, 24, finished as a 2023 AL Rookie of the Year finalist and hit 13 homers with 32 RBIs and an .800 OPS over just 63 games after dealing with a torn cartilage in his rib cage for the majority of the 2024 season.
